Eileen Ley
As a maker, Eileen’s love of materials and sewing diverged from quilting small blankets to hand making hobby horses.
As a mother, she has found intention in reviving and elevating this classic toy that promotes active and imaginative play despite our passive virtual world. Eileen thrives on the tactile process of ‘playing’ with materials and the thrill of chance color combinations. Creating these play objects is by, and for, the power of play.
All wool felt hobby horses are assembled from a curated selection of eco-friendly and repurposed materials in fresh color palettes. Each horse has its unique personality – with distinct mane, ear, eye and neck sash characteristics – due to the limited range of repurposed textile swatches and (occasionally mismatched) vintage buttons. Handmade in Brooklyn.
